Asok Montri Road and the adjoining parts of Sukhumvit Sois 15, 19 and 23 that contain the named schools, church, offices, restaurants, hotels and heritage sites.
Asoke-North (อโศก-เหนือ) is a practical name for the corridor running north from the Asok–Sukhumvit junction along Asok Montri Road (ถนนอโศกมนตรี), rather than a formally defined neighbourhood. Its useful stops are Terminal 21 Asok (เทอร์มินอล 21 อโศก), the temporarily closed Kamthieng House Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์เรือนคำเที่ยง), the office-tower streetscape and Wattana Church (คริสตจักรวัฒนา). Allow two to three hours, including a meal. Good for: travellers interested in how work, education, transport and heritage overlap on one urban corridor. Less ideal for: anyone expecting a self-contained historic quarter or a full day of visitor attractions.
Details may change — verify before visiting.
Asoke-North (อโศก-เหนือ) is not an official neighbourhood or a single station; this page treats it as the Asok Montri corridor north of Sukhumvit, where rail gateways, offices, schools, hotels and heritage sites share the same road.
The first thing to understand about Asoke-North is that the name is useful but unresolved. MRTA places Sukhumvit Station BL22 at Asok–Sukhumvit and Phetchaburi Station BL21 at Asok–Phetchaburi. A 2023 academic article used the area around Asok Station as a research frame, but that does not establish a formally named district called Asoke-North.
Between those transport nodes, the area is shaped by employment, accommodation and tower living. It contains 162 active companies, a count in the 94th percentile among 684 comparable areas; thirteen office properties in the 99th percentile among 89 areas; thirty-one condominiums in the 95th percentile among 425 areas; and twenty-five hotels in the 99th percentile among 808 areas. About 2,571 people live inside the reference area, so the visitor experience is tied as much to commuters, students and office workers as to residents.
The heritage story survives in two specific places. Kamthieng House was built in Chiang Mai in 1848 and later reconstructed at the Siam Society as a museum of Lanna life, although restoration currently prevents a normal visit. Farther into Sukhumvit Soi 19, Wattana Church grew from a congregation established at Wattana Wittaya Academy in 1922.
This makes sense as a two-to-three-hour walk, not a checklist of monuments. The value lies in seeing how a rail interchange, named towers, private school grounds, a century-old church congregation and a displaced northern Thai house occupy the same corridor.
The Asok name connects two MRT stations, but it does not create an official neighbourhood between them.

Asoke-North (อโศก-เหนือ) means the non-legal reference corridor running north from the Asok–Sukhumvit junction along Asok Montri Road and adjacent Sukhumvit sois toward Phetchaburi Road. It is not the entire Asok district, not only Asok BTS Station, and not an officially established neighbourhood with agreed edges.
Loading the real boundary…
Asok Montri Road and the adjoining parts of Sukhumvit Sois 15, 19 and 23 that contain the named schools, church, offices, restaurants, hotels and heritage sites.
Asok BTS Station, Sukhumvit MRT Station and Terminal 21 Asok form the transport and shopping entrance at the Sukhumvit end.
Phetchaburi MRT Station, Asok Pier and the Makkasan Airport Rail Link bridge are useful approach points but do not define or certify an official Asoke-North area.
Follow Asok Montri Road north from Asok BTS Station (สถานีอโศก) and Sukhumvit MRT Station (สถานีสุขุมวิท), using adjoining Sukhumvit sois for the church, school and restaurant stops. Phetchaburi MRT Station (สถานีเพชรบุรี) is a nearby northern approach point rather than proof of an officially named Asoke-North neighbourhood.
Begin at the Asok–Sukhumvit junction and work north. The route moves from a rail interchange and shopping centre to a closed Lanna museum, office towers and the school-and-church setting of Sukhumvit Soi 19. It can also be walked south from nearby Phetchaburi MRT Station, whose exits point toward Asok Pier, the Makkasan Airport Rail Link bridge and Asok–Din Daeng Road.
Terminal 21 Asok appears on the BTS park-and-ride information page; check current access, conditions and fees before driving.
Start at Terminal 21, walk to the Siam Society frontage and finish with a meal near Asok Montri Road. Allow about 60–90 minutes.
Continue north past the office towers to Wattana Wittaya Academy and Wattana Church, using nearby Phetchaburi MRT Station as the northern transport endpoint.
Read the MRT station codes on signs and maps. Phetchaburi is BL21 and Sukhumvit is BL22, even though both sit on junctions carrying the Asok name.
If current access allows a view of Kamthieng House, look for the raised floor, clay-tiled roof, multifunctional toen veranda and rice granary elements described in the museum history.
A restaurant and café associated with Rai Ruen Rom's organic products, rated 4.9 from 506 ratings, with dishes around ฿100–200. Current opening is not confirmed—check before going.
A Thai restaurant whose name centres on tam sua, the papaya-salad and rice-noodle combination, rated 4.7 from 361 ratings. Current opening and current prices are not confirmed—check before going.
A Thai restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 23, rated 4.6 from 786 ratings. Its official website presents the restaurant as operating in 2026, but check current hours before travelling.
The useful food choices sit along Asok Montri Road and Sukhumvit Soi 23 rather than forming one market or dining street. Three named venues give a spread from an organic café to northeastern Thai dishes and a full Thai dining room.
The clearest direct spending choices are the named street-level restaurants outside the shopping centre.
Roasty's meal band is around ฿100–200. No current price information was available for Somyong Tam Sua or Oranuch, and all prices should be checked again.
The main practical issue is precision: Asok can mean different stations, junctions and roads. School and worship sites also need more restraint than ordinary commercial stops.
Do not arrange to meet simply at Asok. Specify Asok BTS Station, Sukhumvit MRT BL22 or Phetchaburi MRT BL21, then add the exit and final destination.
MRTA's exit descriptions identify nearby destinations, but they do not establish a continuous step-free path between every station exit, bridge, pier and street.
Wattana Wittaya Academy and NIST International School (โรงเรียนนานาชาตินิสท์) are working campuses. Do not enter restricted areas or photograph students closely.
Wattana Church is a congregation rather than a museum. Check access, keep voices low and ask before photographing people or worship.
Kamthieng House Museum is closed to the general public until further notice. Do not cross barriers or assume an older hours page overrides the current closure notice.
Daylight is the useful window for reading building fronts, station signs and the school-and-church setting. Current access to the church and Siam Society matters more than season for this route.
Allow two to three hours for the full corridor with a meal, or 60–90 minutes for Terminal 21, the Siam Society frontage and one nearby restaurant.
No confirmed official area called Asoke-North was found. This page uses the name for a non-legal reference corridor north of the Asok–Sukhumvit junction.
Use Asok BTS Station or Sukhumvit MRT Station for the southern end. Phetchaburi MRT Station is the nearby northern approach. Always give the station name, code, exit and final destination.
The Siam Society states that Kamthieng House Museum is temporarily closed to the general public during major restoration until further notice.
The main anchors are the Siam Society and closed Kamthieng House Museum, the named office towers along Asok Montri Road, Wattana Wittaya Academy's historical setting and Wattana Church.
Two to three hours covers the full corridor with a meal. A southern walk around Terminal 21 and the Siam Society frontage can be done in about 60–90 minutes.
No. Asok BTS connects with Sukhumvit MRT BL22 at the Asok–Sukhumvit junction. Phetchaburi MRT BL21 is a separate station at the Asok–Phetchaburi junction.
