Market core
Wang Lang Pier, Wang Lang 1, Arun Amarin Soi 22 and the market passages.
Arrive at Wang Lang Pier (ท่าวังหลัง), follow Trok Wang Lang (ตรอกวังหลัง) for food and secondhand goods, choose one Siriraj museum, then finish at Wat Rakhang Khositaram Woramahawihan (วัดระฆังโฆสิตารามวรมหาวิหาร). The market’s owner page gives roughly 10:00–17:30 as its trading window, while museum hours and tickets should be checked before travelling. Good for: food browsers, secondhand shoppers and museum-goers with two or three hours. Less ideal for: wheelchair and stroller users, or anyone who needs wide, uninterrupted paths.
Details may change — verify before visiting.
Wang Lang (วังหลัง) turns one riverside passage into a market, a hospital approach and a daily ferry landing.
Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) is the reason to come, but it does not operate apart from its surroundings. Siriraj Hospital (โรงพยาบาลศิริราช) sits beside it, ferries unload at its river end, and Wat Rakhang closes the lane to the south. A 2020 Thai PBS programme told Wang Lang through vendors, a guesthouse owner and a parking worker, showing the area as a place of livelihoods as well as shopping.
The useful map has only two market names. Wang Lang 1 links Phran Nok Road with Wat Rakhang, while Arun Amarin Soi 22 joins from Arun Amarin Road. Food, new and secondhand clothing, shoes and bags share the route, but so do motorcycles, goods carts, patients, carers and hospital staff. Keep one hand free and pause where the lane widens.
The two Siriraj museums need different moods. Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum uses the former Thonburi station buildings to connect railway, river and medical history. Siriraj Medical Museum deals directly with anatomy, pathology and forensic medicine. The owner currently offers a combined ticket, but one museum is enough for a two- or three-hour Wang Lang visit.
Two other tourism entries need separate treatment. The Touch Museum in Honor of Her Majesty the Queen (พิพิธภัณฑ์สัมผัส เฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระบรมราชินีนาถ) was created for visitors with visual and other disabilities, but a Siriraj alumni publication says the project has ended. The Royal Dockyard Museum in Honor of His Majesty’s 84th Birthday Anniversary (พิพิธภัณฑ์อู่เรือหลวงเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 84 พรรษา) appears in Royal Thai Navy reports about arranged group visits; no current walk-in visitor information was published, so it is not a route stop.
Two named market entrances feed the same passage of lunches, shoes, clothes and ferry-bound footsteps.

Wang Lang can mean the road, pier, market, historic rear-palace name or surrounding neighbourhood. Here it means the river-facing visit built around Wang Lang Pier, the two entrances to Trok Wang Lang, the Siriraj museum edge and Wat Rakhang. It does not mean all of Bangkok Noi district, the present Thonburi railway station or Wat Arun across the river.
Loading the real boundary…
Wang Lang Pier, Wang Lang 1, Arun Amarin Soi 22 and the market passages.
The two Siriraj museums and Wat Rakhang, each treated as a distinct destination beside the market.
The wider Bangkok Noi district, the present Thonburi railway station and Wat Arun across the river.
The walk stays around Wang Lang Pier, Trok Wang Lang, the Siriraj edge and Wat Rakhang in Siriraj subdistrict, Bangkok Noi district.
This is a branching walk rather than a straight circuit. Arrive at the pier, enter the market, choose either Siriraj museum, then return toward the river and continue to Wat Rakhang. Without a car, the cross-river ferries are the direct approach; Siriraj also describes an MRT Fai Chai connection followed by a bus on Phran Nok Road, though that directions page is under revision.
Siriraj identifies hospital parking buildings, but its directions page is being revised; recheck access and rates before driving.

Skip the museums and follow Wang Lang 1 from the market toward Wat Rakhang.
Choose this for the former station buildings, river history and the development of medical teaching.
Choose this only if forensic, anatomical and pathological displays suit you.
Look for Wang Lang 1 and Arun Amarin Soi 22. They are the two named approaches to the market, not interchangeable names for the entire neighbourhood.
Clothing, shoes and bags appear in both new and used form, with prepared food and gifts threaded between them.
At Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum, the old station building, goods building and warehouse survive as part of the museum site.
The walk moves from ferry queue to market lane, hospital grounds and temple space; voices, pace and photography should change with each setting.
Chicken noodles with bitter gourd; the listing provides no useful price band.
Build-your-own malatang and mala stir-fry, with dishes around ฿100–200.
Thai vegan cooking in the Siriraj area; check the current menu and opening before going.
Contemporary Isan cooking on Arun Amarin Road, presented through à-la-carte and set-menu dishes.
Charcoal mookrata by the river, with a listed band of about ฿200–300.
These venues come from business listings rather than a live directory, so check before making a trip for one. The market itself also changes from stall to stall and day to day.
The market’s food, clothing and secondhand trade is carried by individual stalls and local shops along Wang Lang 1 and Arun Amarin Soi 22.
Restaurant bands, market prices and museum tickets can change; check before ordering or booking.
Wang Lang asks for attention more than speed. The main passage serves shoppers, hospital users, vendors, motorcycles and goods carts at the same time.
Doorways, pier ramps and market entrances are working thresholds; step aside before checking a map or taking a photograph.
One August 2025 review described Wang Lang 1 as narrow and slick after rain. Shoes with grip and a slower pace help.
Patients, carers and medical staff need the direct line through the area. Give them space before stopping for food or photographs.
Vendors and customers are going about their day. Ask before photographing a person or working stall closely.
The Medical Museum prohibits interior photography and contains human remains, forensic evidence and material connected with death.
Shoulders and knees should be covered at Wat Rakhang, with ceremonies and worship taking priority over the route.
The market’s owner page gives roughly 10:00–17:30. Arriving before mid-afternoon leaves time for one museum and Wat Rakhang, subject to current museum hours, ferry service and temple activity.
Allow 2–3 hours for the pier, market, one museum and the temple edge. Skip the museum for a shorter visit.
Some of these sit just outside this page’s area — flagged below.

It means the visit around Wang Lang Pier, Trok Wang Lang, the Siriraj museum edge and Wat Rakhang. It does not include all of Bangkok Noi district or the present Thonburi railway station.
Cross-river ferries connect Wang Lang Pier with Tha Phra Chan, Tha Maharaj and Tha Chang. Siriraj also describes an MRT Fai Chai and bus approach, but its directions page is under revision, so check both outward and return travel on the day.
Choose Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum for the former railway-station site, river history and medical education. Choose Siriraj Medical Museum for anatomy, pathology, parasites and forensic medicine. The latter includes human remains and graphic subject matter.
Step-free continuity is unconfirmed. Wang Lang 1 is narrow and shared with motorcycles and carts, while pier and hospital access can change.
The Siriraj Touch Museum project has ended. Royal Thai Navy pages document arranged group visits to the Royal Dockyard Museum but do not publish current walk-in information, so neither is included as a route stop.
The Siriraj Museum market page gives roughly 10:00–17:30. Check before travelling because individual stalls and transport services may follow different schedules.
